Our mission

We build and scale businesses powering the transition to new energy

As the world shifts from centralised to distributed energy generation, new opportunities and challenges emerge for the businesses driving that transition.
‍

Arcion exists to own and operate these businesses at scale.
‍

We build businesses where we see opportunities to transform the value chain. We own and grow businesses already doing it. And we partner across the ecosystem wherever a long-term partnership creates greater value.
‍

In achieving this, we bring together capital, technology, data, distribution and operational capability to remove barriers to adoption, enable more energy solutions to reach more homes and businesses, faster.
‍

Together with our investors, partners, clients and teams, we are building a more connected and capable energy ecosystem that accelerates the new energy transition.
‍

Our value chain

How our systems approach builds value

The businesses delivering the new energy transition face a defining challenge: fragmentation. The right players exist, but they often operate in isolation, disconnected from one another and from the customers they could serve. Arcion’s role is to bring those systems together.
‍

We map the value chain, identify where it breaks down and acquire or build the businesses that complete it. The result is a system of owned and connected assets that works as one where none existed before.
‍

Woven through the entire system is the capital, technology, data and operations expertise that connects it and makes it commercially productive. This removes barriers to growth for the businesses delivering the transition and creates a faster, smoother experience for the end user.
‍

Our leadership
‍

Arcion is led by a team of professionals with a wealth of industry knowledge and a common goal: to see our purpose come to life.

Franc Gray

Founder + CEO

Franc has always considered everyday problems as puzzles, then built successful businesses, products and models that solve them by pairing funding, technology and hands-on execution. Consistent throughout that journey has been one key lesson: that the concept is seldom the obstacle. Success is measured by outcomes, and aligning the people, resources and direction is key to achieving those outcomes.

Emir Gluhbegovic

Co-founder + CTO

As CTO at Arcion, Emir focuses on the systems and technology that let capital move into the energy sector, translating problem solving into infrastructure that works at scale. That foundation was built at Glint, which he co-founded, and it's given him a bias toward building things properly rather than patching them together as they grow. He’s most engaged when building something new, whether that's a platform, a process or a piece of technology still finding its use case.

Bakang Komanyane

Chief of Staff

Bakang thrives at the intersection of operations and investment, drawing on 17 years across early-stage to private equity to turn a company’s operational strengths into a story that capital can back. For him, the goal is supporting sustainable businesses that advance Africa’s development while caring for our planet and future generations. His strong commitment to being people-centered has always served him well, because ultimately, business building and investing is a long arc built on trust and true partnership.

Mike Varney

Group CCO

Commercially driven, Mike is at his best when he’s building something, whether that’s a business, a team, a partnership or a new route to market. He enjoys connecting people and opportunities, turning ideas into something tangible and creating momentum around them. Naturally people focused, he believes that strong relationships, clear communication and a bias towards action are usually what get things moving.

Brett Morse

Group CFO

Brett is drawn to complex challenges and to the work of turning ambitious plans into delivered results. His experience centres on business turnaround, growth enablement, and structured problem-solving, with a focus on building the conditions for sustainable or rapid expansion. He regards capable, well-led teams as the decisive factor in that work, and he builds them deliberately.

Gerben Dijkstra

Capital Markets Advisor

Gerben’s focus is on structuring the capital that lets the business build and scale across the energy sector. His extensive background in private equity and dealmaking has served him well, and affirmed his belief that the right capital, placed at the right moment, changes what a business can become. He is at his best assessing an opportunity, shaping the terms, and staying close to it once the deal is done.
